Membership in a local church is essential for the life of a believer. Many of the "one-anothers" can only really be fulfilled within the context of a local church in which we submit to the leadership of pastors/elders, sit under the preaching of God's Word, admonish one another with psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, take the Lord's Supper, build one another up in love, and seek to live out the Great Commission together making disciples who make disciples. But more than that, local church membership is for our own good. We are able to receive the blessed benefit of a group of people who know us and love us in a deep, rich way that is rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Life in Gospel Centered Community means our joys are doubled and our sorrows are cut in half as we share them with our brothers and sisters.
